Democratic-Republicans. But there were several candidates within this party that wanted to be president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two main competitors emerged including John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, and William Crawford. This election featured heavy campaigning, as voting was opened up for more common people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andrew Jackson ended up with the most electoral votes of 99. But it wasn&#8217;t a majority. Then, John Quincy Adams had the second most with 84 electoral votes.
